Music, not as bad as everyone says

Multiple cases relating to violence and acts of self-induced harm have been blamed on artists and their music styles such as rap and metal. Many people believe that the reason why teenagers today act so anti-social is due to the negative messages delivered in popular music. I strongly believe that is not the case. I thoroughly enjoy listening to both hip hop and metal, and although their lyrics may be degrading or even on the side of devil worship, it does not give me the sudden urge to go commit acts of violence or theft.

In my essay, I will discuss cases where people were injured or other immoral acts occurred, and the primary blame was placed on music artists and their rebellious and dangerous music. It is almost comical how people can believe that if someone is raised perfectly in a loving household who has many friends and has no problems in the world could listen to a certain song and decide to become a murderer. Music can not be considered the cause of every sinful act.

It is obvious not everyone shares my interest in music as well as my point of view on this subject, but labelling people based on their tastes in anything is not acceptable in my opinion. We as human beings can not confirm a persons personality just because they prefer to listen to Dr. Dre or Black Sabbath. The same reason for believing that someone wearing Goth attire and eye-liner is considered to be a worshipper of Satan. Ultimately, this essay is to inform people not to judge others who don't share similar interests.
